Social Issues CSI Topic That Was Selected Research Paper

¶ … Social Issues (CSI) topic that was selected by the author. That topic, to be specific, is the impact of immigration from Mexico on women in the United States including implications related to the Mexican border crossing as well as the women's justice center. The impacts to women are multi-dimensional and actually end up impacting both citizens of the United States as well as the legal and illegal immigrants that come to the United States either from or through Mexico. While it is true that there are millions of illegal immigrant men and women in the United States, women that are of those races often face pressure, scrutiny and the like that are not fair or proper given that they are in fact citizens with the same rights as any other citizen.
Even women that are citizens that are NOT of Latin American descent and/or have not married someone that is Latin American from birth or ancestry face problems. Even with no immigration, women are paid less than men on average and this has persisted for the entire modern era. The conditions for women are a lot less than they used to be but a proverbial glass ceiling still does exist in many ways. People that are women and that are of Latin American descent face a "double whammy" of sorts as they are a class subject to EEOC protections in two different ways, those being race and gender.

The DREAM Act is something else that has to be looked at in the prism of women. While the DREAM Act does not impact women directly, it absolutely impacts the children of women that are not legal residents of the United States. For those immigrant students that satisfy certain conditions, they would gain legal status within a period of…

Approximately one in six students enrolled in a college or university, or over 3 million individuals, participated in one or more online course in 2004.
